A 44-year-old Maine man has been sentenced to nine months in jail after pleading guilty to felony aggravated cruelty of animals.

Bruce Simpson was charged in January 2009 in a case that left a Papillon toy dog blind. He was ordered to pay more than $4,000 in restitution and fines, and has been banned from ever owning pets again.
