Heaven is lucky to have him

Heaven opened its gates today and Zimba, our dear friend, trotted through. No longer in discomfort from age and disease, his pace quickened as he heard the voice of his old friend who passed a while ago that he loved so dearly for 15 years calling to him.  She was waiting for him, we are sure, as was his kitty friend who had also passed thru the gates less than a year ago. We stood and cried and watched him go, but smiled to know Zimba had begun his newest journey.

How blessed we were to know him. His wonderful spirit, his handsome face and beautiful eyes and his vivid personality were a joy for all at our Adoption Center. Today he made it clear that he was ready to leave and move ahead. It is never easy for us, but we will never let them suffer a day out of selfish love for them.

Zimba arrived in our care nearly a year ago, after his “owner” died after sharing 15 years with Zimba. His kitty friend had been euthanized prior to Zimba’s surrender to Safe Haven. These two personal losses as well as no longer having his home to live in caused Zimba grief and depression.

He was 15 years old and we gave him the tender loving care he so deserved. He enjoyed his family at Safe Haven and knew that this was his new home and we were his new family. This past month we saw his health decline and we tried every option known to keep him healthy, but his body was tired and not responding. We saw this morning that he was ready to leave and took him to our vet to say goodbye.

God Bless our Zimba. Happy Journey to you. Heaven is so very lucky to have you.

Love,

All your family at Safe Haven

Zimba was very lucky to have had Safe Haven. He so looked liked my Tazzee that passed on at age 14. God bless you for the wonderful rescue work you do for cats.
