About

Safe Haven is a NO KILL animal rescue group serving Kennebunk, Wells and the rest of southern York County, Maine. We are dedicated to the “radical” notion that all companion animals deserve a loving and comfortable life.

Safe Haven programs include:

  • Humane pet rescue
  • Low-cost spay and neuter programs
  • Home foster care
  • Educating the community about compassionate pet care
  • and, of course, adoptions!

As a grassroots, volunteer-run organization, we have no handsome endowments to pay our bills.

We depend on individuals and small businesses like you for the funds we need to pay for spaying, neutering, medical care, rehabilitation, transportation and supplies for the cats in our care.

Last year, for example, we spent over $60,000 on vet bills alone!

Because we’re a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your contributions are tax-deductible. Consult your tax advisor for details.

Joyce McKay is president of Safe Haven.
