Scaredy Cat School Diary

Sour Puss out of school!!!! RESIZEDThe Scaredy Cat School Diaries are back. Teacher has just issued diaries to each kitty for them to journal as part of their journey. Kitties who had journals before have graduated and are in their forever homes, but back by popular demand, are the Scaredy Cat School Diaries with new kitties writing.

Please note:
We can not be responsible for rough language at times, as we are not writing these and can not be held accountable. The kitties are..and they are unreformed juveniles who indeed have rough edges.

Each evening as we close Scaredy Cat School, Teacher slips a journal under each kitties’ cushion. Sometimes they are simply chewed on, sometimes they are missing, but sometimes..there is an entry and so here they are..enjoy!

Dear Diary,
We had a meeting last night. It was good to open up and share our thoughts. We decided that maybe we ought to just give it a go, let Teacher and her team work with us.

We have been withdrawn and uncooperative for a couple months now. We hear Teacher come into the class room day after day, night after night, and there she stands, the treats in one hand and the cat toys in the other and she calls us. And there is no sound. Nothing. We lay under our blankets and giggle to one another or roll our eyes. She gets down on her hands and knees and talks even sweeter to us, urging us to come out….nothing. She talks to us. We giggle more and roll our eyes all the harder.. She says she doesn’t want to push us, she wants to help us… Stevie has all he can do but burst out laughing. We cover his mouth with our paws…. Finally she leaves the class room. Another day at school…

We lay there…we know what comes next…she can’t just leave us alone. She has to do her job. The door to our classroom opens again..So she gets out her footstool, and there she is..up high teetering on her stool talking to us…We shrink back as though in total disgust of her. She doesn’t give up. She talks to us more…and then she gives us each a treat or two and tells us that we are good students and loved.

We have to admit we feel a little guilty at that point. I mean after all..she has a bad back, she isn’t a spring chick..and she is tired all the time..but this old school teacher just doesn’t know when to quit. I mean, he really don’t hate her, we just wish she would feed us and leave us be, but she claims that if we let her socialize us feral kitties that we will be happier kitties and have a better life! We figure she is a liar.

Hey, we’ve been lied to before! After all, that is what we were told when “Trapper” encourages us into a trap and took us away from the life outdoors in that stinky old yard we used to call home..”Trapper” said..”go on!, go in the trap, there is yummy food in there, and then your life will be better, you’ll be loved and safe”. Unfortunately for us, it was a pretty rotten day for eating on the run outside, our stomachs ached for a real meal, and so stupidly we were hungry enough to go in the damn trap and WHAM! we were trapped! And driven to a place where women with big smiles greeted us.

We hated them.

The more we hated them with our hisses and grrr’s the more they smiled. There we were in carriers and traps and dirty and stinky…one of us pooped we were so scared..(no name mentioned for dignity’s sake) but they said we were beautiful. So we figured we were taken to a school for the blind instead of some place called Scaredy Cat School..

So it’s been months now, and we have been really unkind to old Teacher. She never once has stopped loving us or being faithful to our care. Her team treats us so nice and so we decided last night, by pulling straws out of the broom they left behind after closing, that one of us would have to give a little to Teacher. Shiloh pulled the shortest straw. She still claims the whole thing was rigged..but still..Shiloh had to be the one to break the ice with Teacher.

And so last night, when Teacher came in and was scooping our boxes, Shiloh tiptoed down to the floor and Teacher saw her. Teacher tried not to get too happy because she didn’t want to scare Shiloh away. Teacher offered Shiloh a toy. Shiloh batted at it in play. Teacher had a huge smile. Then Teacher got another toy..and put that out for Shiloh. Shiloh didn’t run and hide.

Teacher then used the very best toy in the entire world, the wand toy with the dangle strips and she offered a play time to Shiloh. At first, Shiloh hesitated, but then she began to play. She took a photo of Shiloh for our diaries. We have to admit that it did look like it might be fun, instead of hiding under the blankies all this while…

And so last night before Teacher left, she decided to try the journals again. Maybe we would write our diaries now that we have something to share with everyone. And so we are all writing this tonight from Scaredy Cat School.

Love, (well, not love just yet, but Salutations),

PS: The straw thing WAS rigged, but don’t tell Shiloh…
